Yes, Alembic should be supported. It's likely a config problem with the plugInfo file - either its missing or not linked into the root plugInfo. If that's the case, it should be a simple fix.
The other possibility is that an Alembic lib dependency is missing, but I've explicitly run dependency analysis on all libs several times, so that seems less likely.
I'll take a look.

It's really just the plugInfo file missing for the usdAbc plugin, I fixed it locally in our project and it seems to work fine there.
