As far as I know this has been abandoned and is now being replaced by the new Addressable system.

Hi All, yes, we are working on getting another release of this out soon. Ideally to package manager (for 2018.1) in the next week or two. It will probably be a bit longer to get an update out to the asset store (for 2017.x support).
The Asset Bundle Manager support has been stopped, but we are still doing some support on this tool, the Asset Bundle Browser. This tool helps you analyze your bundles. The Manager on the other hand provided a lot of game code that has always required customization for specific games. As of now you can still use the Manager, but it will require some editing.
As to the original "release cadence" question. Well, it's obviously slow, which I apologize for. We intend to fix critical bugs on this tool until Unity stops supporting 2017.x, but any new feature work has largely stopped. Based on feedback and availability, we may slip in some small features, but for the most part this tool is now "supported" but no longer "developed". It's worth noting that under the covers the new Addressables system also re-implements the build pipeline which helps work around a lot of the forced shortcomings of this current tool.

The problem is that it's not widely availible yet, correct?

Plus this is still availible in the Package Manager, so technically it's not depreciated until we get an official replacement. But thanks for the heads up.
