Yeah - my preference is for url to be a top-level field, not per-term, for this reason. Same for phone - any field where old information would actually be wrong or misleading.

Why delete data that isn't causing any problems? It could have historical value. Like, if you want to search the Internet Archive later on.

I can see the use for that, but I wonder if the attribute should have the same name as the "active" url, since it sort of implies that the user can expect a working site.

It's the same name because when someone gets a new term we just append new info, and the previous record remains valid...

Yeah, there's no great answer here - Josh's point is fair, but changing how we store url for older terms adds complexity to maintaining the data. I guess I'd lean on the side of keeping the status quo, with maybe a tweak to the docs to emphasize that old URLs could be wrong.
