This forum is as good as any--actually, I should probably copy that notebook over to this repository.

The first issue sounds like a transient problem I've noticed with the TDS I have serving from S3. I haven't been able to figure it out completely yet. I'd go ahead and try again, as it seems to be working for me again.

As far as the animations are concerned, do you have ffmpeg installed (it's available from conda-forge)? What platform are you running this on? The error behavior sounds like it hit an error piping data to the utility to create the movie file. One way to debug would be to download the notebook as a .py file, and run it from the command line with more debugging turned on:

python anim.py --verbose-debug

@dopplershift , yep, a quick conda install ffmpeg followed by kernel=>Restart and Run all, did the trick! Thanks! If you add this notebook, don't forget to add - ffmpeg to https://github.com/Unidata/notebook-gallery/blob/master/environment.yml

@dopplershift, I told a colleague who wants to look at rainfall effects on SAR imagery that Unidata had a nice notebook for looking at NEXRAD data.

It used to be in this gallery, I think. Does it live somewhere else now?
