you should use MemoryLocationService + MemoryLocationConfig in node.module.ts:

import { UIRouterModule, UIRouter, MemoryLocationService, MemoryLocationConfig } from 'ui-router-ng2';
import { LocationStrategy, PlatformLocation } from '@angular/common';

export class MainModule {
  constructor(public cache: CacheService, router: UIRouter, locationStrategy: LocationStrategy) {
    router.locationConfig = new MemoryLocationConfig();
    router.locationService = new MemoryLocationService(router);
    router.locationService['_url'] = locationStrategy.path(true);
  }
}

And if you use lazyLoad try to use APP_INITIALIZER #18 (comment)

I'm having similar issues with latest version. #43 did not resolve this for me.

Maybe I just put the code in the wrong place. I'm not using dot net core.

I've tried in my app.module.ts as well as app.server.module.ts
