This is not a sensible solution to the fact that you're trying to port to a distro which constantly updates dependencies. By that argument, we should also just add Qt 5.9 as a submodule and link everything statically. While such changes in dependencies are frustrating, they do happen, and burying our heads in submodules won't fix the problems.

The issue is caused by incompatibility between gmock 1.8.0 and gmock 1.8.1. Despite the fact that this release is considered a "minor" one, it has more than a thousand commits in it.
