Where should the source SCSS files reside? about bootstrap-sass

The files stay in the location the gem was installed in, and the containing folders are added to your Rails asset load path, meaning they are separate from your application.

Perhaps the quickest way of discovering this would be to open up a Rails console and type the following:

Rails.application.config.assets.paths

which will return an array of all the folders on your asset load path. This will then let you find the location of the bootstrap-sass gem - which, on my laptop, is in:

 "/Users/tom/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.3-p0/gems/bootstrap-sass-1.4.0/vendor/assets/stylesheets"

What exactly is it that you are looking for from the source files?

Well, I'd like to modify variables.scss for one. I did see a stackoverflow question where you mentioned using @include and then overriding these variables. I'll look into doing this as it seems like the best option.

My path ended with the gem in my RVM setup as well. Since I'm using JRuby and compiling my Rails project to a WAR file for deploying to Tomcat, this could get a bit weird. During the compiling process, all of the gems get vedored.

I am just weirded out by "Rails Magic" when I have no idea where the source files are. So for now, I've just cloned your repo and copied the contents into my lib and vendor folders.

Aye, whatever works best for you.

It might be worth looking into issue #11 since it is a much better way to configure variables that will be included in 1.4.1. I'm hoping to push that out in the next 30 minutes, got to sync the javascripts & ensure there's no breaking styles. Will get the documentation updated as well.

Looks good. I'm totally down with doing it the right way. I just needed to realize this is not a "edit source file" type situation. The default bootstrap is based on Less so the workflow is "edit less file, recompile, (lather, rinse, repeat). This is just a new thing.

Look forward to the cool things that can be built with this.
