Selling cards is no possible, and I also can't think of a way to add that, both in terms of the user interface and in terms of game balance.
The relic description is wrong, and I will change it to say that you can sell potions and relics.

I'm not too sure about how all the user interface stuff in modding works but perhaps you could override the right click function when right clicking on the sprite of the merchant in the merchant event (that would normally open the typical merchant interface) and have that open an event screen similar to the library event that lets you choose 1 of 20 cards. From there the screen shows your deck and you can click cards to sell them? Just throwing out ideas, I have no clue how feasible such an interface implementation could be.
And as far as game balance, there's definitely a reason why removing cards from the player's deck is so costly and difficult even with the Smiling Mask. A definitive downside would definitely need to be created. Perhaps selling cards adds some negative stacking effect to the player that is removed over time, such as gaining frail, vulnerability, and weakness equal to the number of sold cards at the start of combat, with the count of sold cards decreasing every two floors climbed. Or perhaps it costs some amount of life whenever you sell a card. Or every so many cards sold adds a curse to the deck. Or perhaps, if feasible, selling cards attracts thieves to your next combat, adding two thieves with improved life, strength, and dexterity determined by the floor you're on.
Nevertheless the ability to sell cards would certainly be considered an extraordinarily powerful mechanic that would also require considerable modding time, be controversial with players who want a difficult experience, and highly desired for players who prefer a more casual or learning geared environment. Your decision to not include it would certainly be an understandable one.
