Fuck me, I figured it out after investigating the source a bit more. Turns out the () in my own regex was unnecessary and it being there throws the whole thing for a loop.

You could consider stripping leading and ending parenthesis if passed in by the user but I dunno. I guess whenever I do a regex OR I automatically put parenthesis around them.

const pathDef = '/:taxon1<men|women>/:taxon2/products/:productSlug';
const pathToTest = '/men/t-shirts/products/some-tshirt-slug';

(new Path(pathDef)).test(pathToTest);
// { taxon1: 'men', taxon2: 'men', productSlug: 't-shirts' }

from path-parser.
