Przemek- thanks for that feedback. Several things you can do here.

  1. You may use GET in your forms, too.
  2. Cells shouldn't redirect, they are view components, nothing more. I'd move the routing behaviour to the controller, which could ask the cell to redirect or not. Just an idea.
  3. Another ugly, nasty approach would be to break encapsulation and instruct the parent_controller in the cell to redirect - wouldn't do that.
  4. When cells get interactive I usually switch to Apotomo widgets, so I don't have to care about all that. I just hit submit which triggers an apotomo event, catch that in my form widget and process it. This is a more RIA-like approach.

Let me know if I can help you anywhere.

Cheers,
Nick

Thanks for your help. Probably best way for stuff like this would be to use Apotomo.

For now I've created specialized controller's action with special POST route to it. So now controller decides about showing full site (on error) or redirecting (on success).

Something like this:

def specialized_action
  find_item
  comment = params[:comment]
  @comment = @item.comments.new
  @comment.comment = comment[:comment]
  @comment.user = current_user
  if @comment.save
    redirect_to item_path(@item, :anchor => "comment-#{@comment.id}") and return
  end
  render "items/show"
end

But still it's clumsy. I'll try Apotomo and get back to you if it doesn't work ok for me somehow.
