Tornado doesn't have any server-side timeout by default. I don't think there's anything in Tornado that has a default 30s timeout (except websocket pings). Maybe something in curl_httpclient if you're using that?
AsyncHTTPClient has two timeouts, connect_timeout and request_timeout; sometimes folks get surprised if they only set one. But they both default to 20s.
I'm not sure what's going on here without more details, but this also seems more like a question for Stack Overflow than the issue tracker.
