The reason for this design is explained in the Developer Guide:

ie. Using indexes and simple inputs greatly reduces complexity for the user, especially for an environment like restaurants. Making a mistake in the command also becomes less costly.

In any case, this is unlikely to affect the normal operation of the product, and seasoned users of the application will be able to use the application fast as well. As such, the severity will be marked as Low.
