If you press the ? key without pressing shift you are pressing / which selects the search. Shift needs to be pressed to access ?

Pressing / allows you to select the GitHub Command Bar. But then again you don't really need to write SHIFT + ? because to press ? you need to press SHIFT anyway. So this shortcut doesn't actually make sense. SHIFT + / does since that would produce ?.

For some non UK and US keyboards, ? is on a single key by itself I believe (or so it has been reported, therefore pressing shift along with ? makes no difference to them, the shift part serves as a reminder to people with UK and US keyboards to press shift, not just the ? key (which would be pressing /. Not harming anyone, will revert to original.

If you say to type ? then I believe it's clear to anyone that they need to ultimately type that character, whichever combination of keys they would have to press to get to it.

I find shift+? is harmful because it's more confusing, it's taking the instructions a bit too literal. I think GitHub's audience would know how to type the ? character.

I agree, I think we should just keep it as ?.
