testthat tests failing about tidyr

Fixed in the dev version now, thanks.

Basically what happened is that rlang updated some of its error messages, and we capture those in the tidyr snapshot tests, so we just need to update on our side. These don't run on CRAN, so you only see the problem if you run the tests locally or on CI

Brilliant, thank you. So, I was hoping to 'validate installation' of tidyr by running the inbuilt tests but am I right in thinking there might be errors again in the future? Is there a way I can run only the CRAN tests?

Typically you can set Sys.setenv(NOT_CRAN = "false") and that will get respected by internal tools but sometimes it can be a bit finicky.
