This is not related to RapidJSON per se. float can only stores about 7 decimal digits.

double d = 1405196259;
float f = (float)d;
printf("%f", f);
1405196288.000000

To precisely retrieve integer values from JSON, you should use Value::GetInt(), Value::GetUint() or the 64-bit versions.

I had suspected it was a problem with my usage. Thanks for pinpointing the problem.

I had been assuming that my field is a number: either float/double or int, so I need to stop thinking in the python paradigm!
