I'm trying to convince myself I can get by on beforeDestroyState/beforeResetState and beforeCreateState/beforeResetState but I'm not sure it's working

You know, I think I can just continue listening to the destroy/reset create/reset

I solved this problem with asr-active-state-watcher, which watches for afterCreateState/afterResetState and beforeResetState/beforeDestroyState events for activate and destroy respectively.
