Yeah those are probably videos marked 18+. Toggling on age-restricted videos should automatically make the app fetch the uncensored thumbnails.

No, this has no effect. @shuttittuppitt You said that you checked with YouTube and it doesn't happen, were you logged-in to an age-verified account? If so, try without being logged-in, I do not get any unblurred thumbnail on my side.

What I mean is that this is what should ideally happen. If it isn't programmatically possible then sure, we can close this as a YT problem.

Sorry about the lateness of my response. I was so busy that I forgot about this bug report until now. Anyway, I checked the problem with youtube's WEBSITE by logging out & then using the same search (green acres), but the WEBSITE still did not blur censor any of the thumbnails. (That makes sense to me, because "Green acres" was a very family friendly TV show. Then some loser cancelled every TV show that had any TREES in them.) Then I tried the same search in Newpipe. I have no idea WHY the bug was happening yesterday, but it does NOT happen anymore. (Yesterday was the ONLY time that it ever happened to me too, & I'm a long time Newpipe user.) I guess that the wifi had something wrong with it yesterday, but that it's fixed now, so I would go ahead & close this bug report as resolved. Still mysterious why it did not happen with youtube's website though (even with me logged out now).

No worries, you commented pretty fast, we get several issues from which we never hear again about authors when we ask questions.

About your issue, that's not your connection, I think it is a video which was age-restricted but isn't anymore. It could also be a YouTube A/B test.
