Adding new semantics inside destructuring is a very different proposal than what I'm proposing in this one. It could be done as a follow on.

If so, presumably it would work in function signatures too - i like this, as it matches what i would have preferred defaults to do anyways (nullish vs undefined)

I don’t think it can or should advance in isolation; all these operators are related.

No. I don't plan on championing at this time, so it would need someone to write it up and champion.
