I agree that coherence in this is desirable. In fact the feature is already implemented in the taurus code but it is commented out.
I remember a discussion about it long time ago but I will have to dig old emails to check its conclusions (cannot do it right now).

thanks. Yes, we found where we have to change the taurus
code for having this feature implemented. So, as you said, it is more
a discussion about if you want to have it like this or not.

Hi, I vote for the feature to be added.
I discourage developers to use it when programming.

The question to do it or not came up in PyTango already.
Old versions of PyTango add it, then I decided to remove it for safety. People complained and I added it back again because it was so useful.

reopening this ticket.

We just noticed that the patch proposed for this feature-request may break other code (it breaks this test: taurus.qt.qtgui.panel.test.test_taurusvalue). So we unapplied the patch and reopen the bug since it requires further investigation.
