well, it might indeed make sense to move the Intl polyfills from symfony/intl
to this repo (and have symfony/intl
depending on symfony/polyfill-intl-icu
rather than the opposite).
In such case, having MessageFormatter alongside the other ones would make sense (as it is indeed an ICU-based API).
Keeping the icu polyfills in symfony/intl
was done to simplify the initial creation of the polyfills.
We would still not name it symfony/polyfill-intl
IMO, as we also have polyfills for other parts of Intl (all the grapheme
methods), which could still be kept separate.
