This is not quite a dependency of libstrophe as it is only needed to generate configure, which is only missing if you are cloning the github repo. So it's a build-dependency for building from the repo. I'd happily take a pull request with this update :)

You would not want to pull from me, I'm really bad with such fixes.
Actually, I'm trying to use libstrophe with iOS. I tried building it on Mac OS and linking as a static library, which didn't work (throws a message saying libstrophe.a has been compiled for a different architecture).
There's some dependencies I'm trying to fit into Xcode to get this working on iOS. Any suggestions would be really great 👍

Installing libstrophe with homebrew should fetch/install all dependencies. If not, please contact the maintainer of respective homebrew package. I have removed OSX section from the README, because libstrophe has been added to many package managers and this is not the place to describe them all.
Autoconf, automake and libtool are mentioned in general requirements section now.
Regarding iOS build. Check out https://github.com/gameclosure/libstrophe-ios. Sorry, I don't know other attempts to build libstrophe for this platform.
