flydra_kalmanize: undefined symbol: IsZero about flydra

I refer you to commit 844886f on the dev branch for a fix for the initial error (IsZero undefined). I think you should be able to backport this with little trouble to 0.7.6 or later.

(I'm not sure what changed so that this now became a problem with Python 2.7. The code did not change. So I think the issue is likely related to use of a new gcc from a new linux version. Are you using Ubuntu and ubuntu packaged gcc? What version of Ubuntu?)

Ideally, the dev branch would work in both Python 2.7 and 3, but so far I have been testing it only in 3.x. Did you try the dev branch in Python 2.7? (This is why it is still only the dev branch and not the main branch.)

Ah, thanks! Works now! (flydra_analysis 0.7.8 with that backport) It is very strange that it no longer works. I swear it was working with flydra_analysis 0.7.6 before we upgraded braid from 0.4 to 0.8. Maybe something changed in the system before, during, or after that upgrade? One thing that happened between now and back when I would have first installed flydra_analysis is we changed the window manager to be more friendly with remote access. Is it possible that in that process gcc got updated? This computer has been running 18.04.4 from the beginning of its life. gcc version: (flydra27) *buzz@tornado*:*~/src/flydra/flydra_analysis*$ gcc --version gcc (Ubuntu 7.5.0-3ubuntu1~18.04) 7.5.0 Copyright (C) 2017 Free Software Foundation, Inc. I did try the dev branch in 2.7, I recall it giving an error "pytables requires python > 3.4" or something like that. I did not get this error when installing 0.7.10 from pypi. - Floris

Strange. I will go ahead and close this as this fix will be in the next release of flydra. This will be incentive to make such a release!
