Steve, how difficult would it be to implement this function as well?

Not hard. Alex said he was going to work on it, but I'm not sure how much
time he has. Is there a timed version of a future get()? I think that's all
that I really need.

There is no timed version of future::get(), but timed versions of future::wait():

    future_status
    wait_until(boost::posix_time::ptime const& at);

    future_status 
    wait_for(boost::posix_time::time_duration const& p);

    template <typename Clock, typename Duration>
    future_status
    wait_until(boost::chrono::time_point<Clock, Duration> const& abs_time);

    template <typename Rep, typename Period>
    future_status
    wait_for(boost::chrono::duration<Rep, Period> const& rel_time);
