MAL Top 5 Favourites Tracker

This is a simple React application that interacts with the MyAnimeList API to fetch and display the top 5 favourite anime of a specified user.

Features

  • Search for a MyAnimeList user by their username.
  • Display the top 5 favourite anime of the searched user, including the anime's title, type, and start year.
  • Show high-definition images of each anime.
  • Clicking on an anime's image redirects you to its page on MyAnimeList.

Getting Started

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have installed:

  • Node.js
  • npm

Installation

  1. Clone the repository to your local machine using git clone https://github.com/ssravens/MALProject.git.
  2. Navigate to the project directory cd MALProject.
  3. Install the project dependencies with npm install.
  4. Start the backend server using node server.js.
  5. Start the development server using npm start.
  6. Visit http://localhost:3000 in your web browser to see the application.

Usage

  1. Enter a MyAnimeList username into the search box.
  2. Click "Search" or press Enter.
  3. The user's top 5 favourite anime will be displayed on the page.
  4. Click on an anime's image to be redirected to its page on MyAnimeList.
