Could you not simply do:

public class AsyncBus extends Bus {
  private final Handler mainThread = new Handler(Looper.getMainLooper());

  @Override public void post(final Object event) {
    mainThread.post(new Runnable() {
      @Override public void run() {
        AsyncBus.super.post(event);
      }
    });
  }
}

True, I can't think of any reason why the async bit can't be moved to the post side of things instead of dispatch. I'll test it out and close this issue if I can't find any problems. Thanks.
