I just ran into this as well. It's pretty much a dealbreaker for using gulp-jasmine :(

About the return code:
gulp-jasmine returns 1 when tests fail. Could it be that you're not returning the gulp task result? See this answer on stackoverflow.
About the process ending:
This is a limitation of gulp <4.0.0. You need to use gulp-plumber.
Hope this helps.

No failure reporter? If you are going to compare to how jshint
handles this, they have added a failure reporter to cure the issue.

This is definitely a bug in gulp-jasmine 2.x IMO. I did not see this failure in 1.x
return gulp.src(...).pipe(jasmine(...)); does not work - failing tests do not fail gulp:
return gulp.src(...).pipe(jasmine(...)).on('error', function (err) {
done(err);
}); does work however, but should not be necessary
