I found the problem: You save the AutoSizeGroup in a StatelessWidget. The group is reset with every build and that leads to an error.
I will fix this issue. For better performance you should save your AutoSizeText in a StatefulWidget.
Edit: fixed in auto_size_text: 2.0.0-dev+1
Please reopen if this problem persists.

I can reproduce theissue but I have no idea what might cause this behaviour. I'll try to debug this somehow to find the cause.

I guess it lies deeper, in the flutter itself.
