No other than there has not been any need for it/no one has asked for it.
Personally I have my doubts why the RPC is a part of protocol buffers, usually when people ask about packaging messages over a network the answer is that it is out of scope for protocol buffers to define that.
But it is still welcome as a part of the project. It wouldn't be that hard to implement it since only a few interfaces need to be generated. If someone else submit a pull request I would gladly support it further on.
