I guess for my use it's not that critical, as I only use some spherical grids from quadpy. So I only would have to put out a small fire once quadpy stops working without a license.
But I can imagine that bigger projects / companies with a stronger dependency would like to know at least a couple of months in advance to react to it, acquire licenses for their teams, and so on. Will of course depend on the available license tiers you are going to offer.

Works as intended!

uninstall (and a force uninstall of orthopy) followed by force reinstall did the trick, thanks!

When updating quadpy, the message will disappear (for now).

What version are you running now?

from quadpy.

mschytt avatar mschytt commented on June 15, 2024

Having the same problem. Upgraded to 0.16.17 and is prompted a Sigma license before the import can complete.

PGadoury avatar PGadoury commented on June 15, 2024

I'm running quadpy-0.16.17, which is the latest pip installs when prompted (I also tried --force-reinstall to make sure, but this didn't fix the error)

Looking into it, hang on.

Could you uninstall your quadpy version and force reinstall.

DanielRudrich avatar DanielRudrich commented on June 15, 2024

Can't get it to work. Could you please list the required versions of quadpy, orthopy, and x21 to make it work without requiring a license? I can't really downgrade quadpy as there are only two versions available...

from quadpy.

nschloe avatar nschloe commented on June 15, 2024

@DanielRudrich The latest versions of everything should do it. Perhaps x21<0.4, but that's a requirement so it should be automatic. Have you tried reinstalling everyhing? What versions do you have installed?

from quadpy.

DanielRudrich avatar DanielRudrich commented on June 15, 2024

quadpy 0.16.19
orthopy 0.8.95
x21 0.3.6

What's your error message?

from quadpy.

DanielRudrich avatar DanielRudrich commented on June 15, 2024

Just the enter license prompt:

Warning: Unable to find valid license in
- environment variable SIGMA_LICENSE_KEY (env var not found), or
- config file /Users/rudrich/Library/Application Support/sigma/sigma.toml (file not found)

Enter new license key for sigma:

Python 3.10, macOS Catalina 10.15.7

What package does it mention before that?

from quadpy.

DanielRudrich avatar DanielRudrich commented on June 15, 2024

Found the culprit, also had to update the ndim package.
Had ndim 0.1.9, solved with 0.1.16

Thanks for your quick response!

Have you already decided on a date to start enforcing valid licenses?

Not entirely sure yet. How far ahead would you like to know?
