It would be great to fold this change into a general, front end, workflow
component.

Use case:
1) front end author/editor edits article.
2) front end author/editor selects Publisher (from drop down list of Publishers
with permissions in this category)
3) front end author/editor adds version comment
4) On save, email sent to Publisher w/ comment + url of the latest version for
approval

I never could make this to work.

Make this plugin as customuzable as possible, take this examples:

1- Category cars: Notify the Administrator, the client, and a custom email.
2- Notify the adminitrator every time THIS USER creates a new article
3- Notify the client or a custom email every time an ARTICLE is changed
4- Some features like this will make this plugin the monster of notification.

I have tested this on the latest version
com_flexicontent_2_0_beta3_r878.zip

This is not sending an email to the admins of the site

What is the status on this issue?
Will be nice if we can define what to include on the email.
For example I would like to see the custom fields included.

For me this is now a must have feature lacking in Flexicontent!

THE new item email exists already (and in v2.0 but not in v1.5.6 the email for
revised items too), but we need more options

so, we will add 2 parameters in global configuration :
1. Send Email on new item
(a) Always
(b) Never
(c) Allow user to choose

2. Send on revised item
(a) Always
(b) Never
(c) If unapproved (user cannot publish)
(d) Allow user to choose

Enjoyman or me will implement next week, so you can have very soon with v2.0 RC2

Thanks for your reply :)

But... I'm using version 1.5.6 RC1a (r979), activated plugin notification
without success. Sending email still dont work :(

It will be in both versions very soon.

-- The 2 new parameters will be in the Global configuration. Plus one more to
select the users to be notified.

-- It will be implemented by the save task of the controller and not in the
notifications plugin.

The new notifications feature for v1.5.6 / v2.0 rc8+, does a lot more than
these and has notifications for 4 distinct workflow cases (new) (new - needing
publication approval), (existing) (existing - needing version reviewal) ,
target are users or user groups pwe workflow case , and parameters are
configurable : globally and then overridden per content type, and also added to
these are per category notification targets too.

The manual approval button is temporarily broken, i am testing the fix for it
and it will be using the "new - needong publication approval" targets
