I've been following this thread as I am also stuck. In the meantime I decided to pursue controlling the 360 box using an IR blaster (Broadlink) by purchasing a one for all remote and learning the commands.

I've got them working locally and was planning on uploading the codes later this week/early next to GitHub - I know this won't replace everything that this component does but it's another option to at least be able to control the device!

@jimb0b Robert and I have been discussing the Panamalar IR Sender [here](url), you're welcome to join the conversation to see if we can get the Broadlink working (although, since I have a working solution, I may not have much time to do a lot, I know Robert is keen).

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank @Sholofly for all he work on LG Horizon, it gave me a great solution for a long time.

I've released a new beta version. That should be sufficient for other countries that don't use oAuth to log in. Unfortunately GB, IE en BE use oAuth and something has changed in the auth. I am on it.

davepearson1628 avatar davepearson1628 commented on August 23, 2024 3

@jimb0b Sadly those codes don't seem to work on my Broadlink devices, I can see them being transmitted, but nothing happens on the TV360 boxes (tried on both the master and the remote TV360 boxes). Commands sent from the Broadlink iPhone App do work, but all of the code sets I have found for that are incomplete and sending numbers is very hit and miss.
Thanks for your efforts, anyway.

I feel like we're hi-jacking this thread, though, so I'll just be patient now and wait for @Sholofly to come up with a solution, which I'm confident he will.

@Sholofly Hope we can get this working again for our Virgin UK users. Thanks for all your input.

jimb0b avatar jimb0b commented on August 23, 2024 2

@davepearson1628 - yeah, the Virgin 360 remote is not actually an IR remote, it uses RF/bluetooth. However it is still possible to control the Virgin 360 box with IR (I used a one for all remote with magic code "1582" and then trained my Broadlink device to understand all the buttons).

I've uploaded the codes here now to https://github.com/jimb0b/broadlink-virgin-360-codes/ - I've added basic instructions but it does assume you're familiar with the CLI/json syntax etc. I'll look to freshen up the readme a bit later and then will post this to the HA community.

Cheers and good luck!

So if someone is so stupid helpful ;) to trust a stranger on the interwebz than please contact me on discord. (Sholofly there too) I really won't share the details with anyone else, obviously.

I think it's a bust, not because of the developer but bcause Virgin has changed their authentication. For me over the last few months various virgin related services have had problems, sometimes for days! Not related to authentication but Virgin has pulled their digital voice upgrade in my area indefinetly!

When it comes to contract renewal, I'm very tempted to find another broadband supplier and go to Off Air or streaming services for TV.

The only solution I was able to find, that I could, easily, get to work with Home Assistant was to start using an IR transmitter - Panamalar Wireless WiFi Universal IR Control Hub (£20.00 from Amazon). I set this up in the Smart Life app - there is a list of supported devices, I was able to choose the top one in the list of Ziggo devices (151 downloads when I last looked). Then I needed to set up a Tap-to-Run scene for each button on the Remote. These scenes then show up in Home Assistant as scenes too.

I working with @jimb0b to try and get my Broadlink devices to work, but had no luck at all, sadly, as I already head them/

jimb0b avatar jimb0b commented on August 23, 2024 1

@robertwigley there is a closed thread on my GitHub repo here with all the details on how I generated the code with a remote - jimb0b/broadlink-virgin-360-codes#2 . I used a one for all remote, specifically model URC7125 evolve 2, with magic code 1582.

But TLDR; yeah - my box is a Humax so maybe that is why the codes don't work for you? I don't have a HA forum account (yet) but if you want to start a thread there I'm happy to sign up and try and help best I can!

In HACS find the integration, click the three dots at the top right, select "Redownload", toggle on "Show beta versions", select the new beta version and click "Download" and restart HA. To switch this off and/or revert, toggle the switch back to off and you can redownload the non-beta version.

I was thinking of trying to debug / see if I could get a fix in myself (I'm a python coder). Any pointers would be useful but I might have a bit of a poke myself in any case.

robertwigley avatar robertwigley commented on August 23, 2024

@marcelkornblum, @Sholofly had a look with my account, but he hasn't been able to make any progress and has told me he doesn't have much time at the moment. From what I can tell it's authorisation related. If going to https://id.virginmedia.com/rest/v40/session/start?protocol=oidc&rememberMe=true it's generating a captcha-required error.

from lghorizon.

robertwigley avatar robertwigley commented on August 23, 2024

@jimb0b @davepearson1628 I wonder if the code incompatibility for Broadlink is that the codes vary between boxes depending on the manufacturer of the box, either Arris or Humax. I'd be interested to know if both your boxes are made by the same manufacturer, as I am considering going down the Broadlink route.

To check which you have, on your 360 box go to Settings > Info > About

On the first screen the make of the box is shown next Hardware Version. In my case it shows 'ARRIS-DCX960-MPA+' so my 360 box manufacturer is Arris.

from lghorizon.

robertwigley avatar robertwigley commented on August 23, 2024

I've tried the codes @jimb0b published with my Broadlink RM4 Mini and am not having any luck with them, much like @davepearson1628.

@jimb0b I am guessing your box is made by Humax and @davepearson1628 your's is made by Arris, like mine.

Rather than taking over this thread, would either of you be willing to discuss what you did and/or tried somewhere else? I don't know if GitHub has a private chat function, but we could use the Home Assistant forum chat if you're willing to share your usernames for it.

@jimb0b was it just a standard One-For-All controller like this you used to learn the codes, once you had got that working with the 360 box?

I'd really like to get this working and, assuming my theory is correct, would then be able to publish the codes to use with Arris boxes for those that don't have Humax boxes to use.
