offonoff - A user's personal list is the set of all tasks assigned to him or her. Just click on "My Tasks" to view your personal list. If you don't assign a task to someone, it is assigned to one-self by default, so you really could say that creating a personal list is the default behavior. Or am I not understanding your needs somehow?

Good point,
Currently, our groups are different committees and such, and each list under
those groups is a particular project. But what if I have a personal
project? I want to use the todo website at work to keep track of my
housekeeping chores. We could have a group that is everyone, and in it I
could create a list called "Elliot's house keeping chores" or something.
Then, even though everyone else can see it, they could just agree not to
use it or make fun of me. Or the list could be called "everyone's house
keeping chores" and everyone keeps their personal house keeping chores in
it, and i use the "mine" view to only the ones assigned to me.
My ideal would be to see the lists of all the committees I am in and also
lists that belong to me alone. You are right that the "my tasks" view
pretty much handles that, and the only "need" not addressed by this is that
everyone can see my personal business, even though they can't see what the
committees i am on are doing. Also, the "to-do lists" view
could potentially get very crowded in an organization of many users who are
also keeping personal lists.
I was looking at the source and have not yet determined if it is feasible at
all to have the lists from one special group be filtered based on a username
prepended to the name of the list or based on the user who is keeping items
in the list. Just from this sentence I am feeling that it is probably too
awkward to justify.

I have to say, this is not quite the use case the system was intended for, though I would of course like for it to be flexible to accommodate everyone's needs. At the moment, I'm completely overbooked and can't give this the energy it would need to do it elegantly. If you made mods that you believe get it done neatly, by all means submit them! If not, I'll look into this next time the smoke clears around here.

Will do.
I guess more the case I am thinking of is work related tasks I have that are
not related to any committee or which do not concern any of my co-workers.
They should not have to sort through lists of my website improvements and
accounting chores in order to find their own lists which are unrelated to
me. (yes, they can see their already assigned tasks without having to see
my stuff, but as far as creating and finding lists, we either have to have
one communal group or many personal groups.)
I will look into it more. Our organization is not so big that one personal
group per user is much of an inconvenience, so it isn't pressing. But this
is a great app and I hope to be using it more and setting it up for other
groups as well.
Thanks for your work,
Elliot
