Can you try with latest version of capistrano ? I can't replicate your bug.

@leckylao it's possible you rewrite puma_cmd and pumactl_cmd like this.

set :puma_cmd, "#{fetch(:bundle_cmd, 'app_bundle')} exec puma"
set :pumactl_cmd, "#{fetch(:bundle_cmd, 'app_bundle')} exec pumactl"

Delete these rewrtites, it should working without them. (source: I had same problem)
