Howdy -- sorry for the delay. I think this should be resolved now by 73a8fc8

I'd caution against downloading the entire project as an artifact, as that should almost never be necessary in practice.

To use the plugin, you should be able to simply add the appropriate third party repositories to your POM or settings.xml and then specify the plugin in your POM (or run the archetype command).
