One down side of EnvJs is that it currently doesn't have very good box model support. It was suggested on the EnvJs forums that HtmlUnit be used if that was a requirement.
I was writing tests using EnvJs up until I found this out when I needed to do tests that depended on the box model, at which point I switched to Jasmine.
Apparently work is being done on that for EnvJs so this may not be a concern soon.

Thanks Bryce, that's a more specific explanation than I could have given.
To the original question of why I chose HtmlUnit; when I first wrote the plugin, it was really simple: env.js couldn't successfully run my project's existing specs and HtmlUnit could.
In spite of what I perceive as maintaining a much lower profile than the env.js project, I've personally been really impressed with how well HtmlUnit has held up in the face of all the DOM-intensive (and too clever) code I've seen thrown at it.
