This is a great idea. I remember there was a discussion going on about
something similar in the scanpy issues.
I will try to dig it out when I'm back.

Actually not directly about theming but how to making the plotting API more
flexible. This is not implemented in scanpy yet, but I think it is a good
idea.

Anyway, for the sake of "rapid prototyping" I would go with a few, limited keyword arguments for each plotting function and no "theming" first.
Once we have a first version all the plotting functions we want to have, we can iterate and refactor the plotting module to support styling.
