Ok I've checked the code, and based on your example the memory leak is not in my code but in your test: You are doing a lot of recursive calls but you never return your functions until you reach 50 iterations, that's why your local scope keeps the promises in memory. Once your loop is finished the garbage collector will do its job and clean all those useless memory items.
I can't be sure without the code in $scope.store('sometext');
but I'm almost certain that's the cause.
You should try the same test with a setInterval instead of a setTimeout/recursive call. Something like that:
function storeData() {
setInterval(function() {
$scope.store('sometext');
}, 1000);
}
storeData();
