@jdupak I am not entirely sure about this but I can't provide any counter argument so let's go for it. Even if we're doing it wrong, let's make it at least consistent. I can't think of any situation where removing this would lead to a problem during later stages of the compiler. We already have this lifetime information encoded in the type anyway.
