Automated Ruby file checker like PEP-8? about ruby-style-guide

It's in the cards, but it depends mostly on when will I be able to find the time to write it. If someone would like to step in - I wouldn't mind at all :-)

I know RubyMine 4.0 Code Inspection is based partly on this guide.

Thought I would probably prefer something more lightweight I could use with a text editor.

Certainly. I've started this project https://github.com/bbatsov/rubocop to provide such functionality, but only one or two days into it I got swamped with work and it's nowhere near being usable. Keep an eye on it and hope that I'll find some time to spare :-)

Rubocop 0.2 was just released. It was the first more serious release of the project. There is still A LOT to be done, but at least we're moving in (hopefully) the right direction...

Since Rubocop has reached a somewhat usable state with version 0.3 I'll be closing this ticket.
