Okay, I suspect the issue will be centred around using MobaXterm to run Bandage remotely. I still don't know if that cryptic XCB error is important - possibly not (I've seen similar XCB errors when everything works fine).
Can you run other Ubuntu applications through MobaXterm with proper menu bars? Also, give the static build a shot that I mentioned above. I think it will use its own menu bar instead of using Ubuntu's, so that may fix the problem.

same here with MobaXterm

Can I ask which version of Ubuntu you're using? I know that in some versions/configurations of Unity (the default graphical shell for Ubuntu) the menu bar is hidden until moused over. It's not that, is it?
I'm not sure if the QXcbConnection error is related to the menu bar or not. You're just running Bandage locally on your own computer, not remotely from a server?
If you let me know the Ubuntu version, I can try to make a VM and reproduce the issue. In the meantime, you can try the static build of Bandage on the releases page. That one has the GUI library code included with the file, so it sometimes avoids certain issues. And finally, building Bandage from source (instructions in the readme) often makes things work better than in one of my pre-built binaries.

Hi Ryan
Thanks for replying.

Found the same error while using matplotlib through MobaXterm. Using the following answer (turning off the RANDR in mobaxterm's x11 configuration) fixed the issue:
