It should still have some sort of timeout. We dont want them wasting CPU forever. Make them "persistent", except demo_stream.
Should demo_stream be running all the time? Maybe start it on system startup?

The only use-case I have for this right now is the demo_stream and yes, that should be running all the time in case it is needed (assuming the project in question makes use of the demo_stream possibility). I do not view this as an overall waste of CPU, though it is certainly true that the majority of the time this stream would not be listened to, ie wasted. But generating it only when needed kind of defeats the purpose of a demo stream unless we get really clever about the whole thing.
Who knows, perhaps there is a better way of doing this, but for now the ability to have a stream never timeout would be nice; I'll think more about it. Probably a good idea to start on system start-up for convenience.
I'm moving this to low priority.
