This actually seems to have been fixed with the fix for Issue #10 (1123058).

When processing example above, this is the current end-result (provided the variables have been defined):

backgroundGradient: {
        type: "linear",
        startPoint: {
            y: 0
        },
        endPoint: {
            y: 3
        },
        colors: ["#000","#123456"]
    }

If someone finds this issue still persists, feel free to comment and I'll reopen it!
