Oops. I've just noticed that I reported this on the ROCm fork rather than the main PyToch repo! For avoidance of confusion, this is happening with the official wheels from the Pytorch project.
(consequence of looking through multiple repos to see if this has been reported before!)

@owainkenwayucl Please create an issue on pytorch/pytorch since this is to do with upstream Pytorch wheels, and close this mentioning it as a duplicate. That will help other community users find this issue as well.
