It's true that this doesn't parse, but that's actually correct! The problem here is that because } is outdented, that means the x = def has already terminated (when actually it hasn't yet) and } is the return value of the def-expression.

Hopefully in the future we can give a helpful error message for cases like this!

Ah okay! I think I understand what you mean by "} outdented, that means x = is terminated" now. You said something about this before with regards to closures, and I was a little confused because I didnt understand that this was such a general part of the syntax.
