Well, :Dash!
(with the bang) is supposed to do a global search in all docsets, without caring for the filetype you are currently editing.
:Dash
should respect the options set in g:dash_map
normally. Is that working for you?

is working for me. But why does :Dash!
not search with the filetype? If I am in a ruby file and want to search for the text under the cursor, why should the :Dash!
command not respect the filetype?

It was designed like that. Otherwise :Dash
with or without the bang would do the same thing.
