Thank you for your interest! Blender 2.79 rendering code for multi-view images of 3D objects is available at our 3D object shape reconstruction repository. The code available is for ShapeNet and ABC datasets, but it can be changed to work with other datasets of .obj files. For example, this is the line where objects are imported, this can be "swapped out" for different .obj files.

For sampling point clouds please look into the python trimesh package (repo, docs) and specifically the mesh surface sampling functions. The documentation is generally very clear and useful. Trimesh points can be used to generate visualizations of point clouds after sampling, and .ply files can be exported for visualization in Blender.
