I personally dislike disqus
Would like to hear others' thoughts

The reason I dislike disqus is it is slow to load and takes the control over comments away from the site owner. Also, it means that none of the comments show up in search results which is "bad for SEO" for those who want their comments indexed.

Looks like this would be better implemented per use rather than in the core. :-)

I have one client who really needs disqus because of the audience he's working with. I have gotten the comments part to work but can't get the index to show the comment count. It would be great if an engine or gem could be developed for this functionality, even if it is not added to the core...
