An easy way to turn captcha on and off (e.g. the current "Settings" menu item in the submenu on the right) would be preferred.
Please make it "OFF" by default :-)

I'm closing this. I don't plan on building it, but will accept a patch that has it as an option, turned off by default.

Any update on this? My inbox is currently full of spam comments i'd prefer not to recieve

this has the negative side effect of marking my domain as 'spammy' to gmail's filters since the comment body gets sent along with every message

Would you like to work on this?

It will be nice to avoid duplication in all engines. There's similar request in inquires. Maybe add refinery-captcha
engine as a soft dependency and when it will be available, turn it on in config per engine?
I like negative captcha, so I can implement that.
Reason: Why human should prove that he's a human to computer?
Third option is also to use some external service like akismet. But I'm not using it, so I don't have motivation to implement it.
Maybe we can move this feature into main repo or create new repo called refinery-antispam
for example and discuss it there before implementation.
