Ok, my fault. I found the select commmand that allows you to do exactly this.

I think it'd be a more natural API to pass the database number, the password, and even the host and port as part of an options object to the constructor. I'll probably do this at some point. Until then, select does what you need. Make sure you put it in the "ready" event handler, so it'll be re-selected if you ever reconnect.
