I think I may have run up against this, as I'd been using node_redis for a little while and only recently noticed the behavior in your examples.
If I understand it correctly, sending a command to redis is technically asynchronous, however node_redis will send each command in order and all replies are guaranteed to return in the same order, as redis will execute and reply to each command in the order it is received before moving on to the next.
An example:
client.hmset('hash', 'key1', 100, 'key2', 1);
client.hincrby('hash', 'key1', 1, redis.print);
client.hincrby('hash', key2', 1, redis.print);
If I understand it right, the above code will always result in 101
being printed before 2
. Is this correct?

Yes, on a single client, the callbacks are run in the same order as the commands are sent.

I'd guess that people understand this better now, as I haven't seen any issues with this kind of question in the last few months?
